All BMG feedyards participate in a third-party verified quality management system. The standard, Progressive Beef™, is not only a tool to help feedyards improve each day; it provides important transparency to partners in the supply chain.

 

Progressive Beef™ is the industry-leading third-party verified quality management system focused on animal welfare, sustainability and food safety – areas of feedlot production that are critical to daily operations but also important to our supply chain customers. BMG member feedyards were the first in the nation to participate in this important program that verifies over 40 standard operating procedures. For over a decade, BMG feedyards have completed two annual audits, one conducted by Progressive Beef™ auditors and one by USDA-approved auditors to maintain their certification. Our teams participate in regular trainings to ensure they are providing the best possible care for the cattle in the feedyards. For the Beef Marketing Group, this certification helps our members continuously improve and gives our partners and customers in the beef supply chain enhanced confidence in our operations.

    The Progressive Beef team works one-on-one with each feedyard to train employees and implement protocols in the areas of food safety, animal welfare and sustainability to enable the feedyards to continuously get better.

    Our partners in the supply chain and the end consumer want to know more about how animals are raised and cared for. Certification to a third-party verified quality management system provides transparency to our partners about the care cattle receive when they are at a Beef Marketing Group feedyard.

    All Beef Marketing Group feedyards are audited twice annually to verify compliance to a standard that was developed and is overseen by an advisory board comprised of industry leading experts.
