Domestic Source Verification

BMG’s Source Verification model is built on establishing relationships with ranches and known sources of cattle.  Our goal is to provide a product of known origin and traceability to our customers to assure them of product safety and integrity.  Requirements for the program include:

BMG’s definition of source verified is: Cattle must be able to be individually traced back to the ranch of birth thru approved documentation.  Documentation must include a BMG cattle age and source document or provide the following information:

  1. Name of original producer
  2. Date
  3. Address
  4. City, State, Zip
  5. Total head count
  6. Sex
  7. Group birth date (first & last calf born)
  8. Signature of rancher declaring calves were born and raised on his/her ranch

Our domestic source verification program requires that the original producer, where the calves where born, provide us with the above specified requirements.   

Additionally, if cattle are commingled each animal MUST be able to be traced back to the ranch of birth.  Uniquely identifying cattle back to the ranch of birth can be accomplished using the following means:

  1. Ranch ear tag
  2. Brand
